Tutankhamun (1341 BC – c. 1323 BC) was an Egyptian pharaoh of the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom, whose name is linked to the discovery of his tomb by Howard Carter, in the Valley of the Kings, in 1922. The funerary mask of Tutankhamun and the priceless treasure of precious objects found are now preserved in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The mask remains the most popular symbol from ancient Egypt and one of the best known artworks in the world.
