UNIQLO x MFA Collection

Ukiyo-e prints were produced by a three step-process: the artist draws the image, a craftsman carves the woodblocks, and a printer applies the pigments to the woodblocks to print them on Japanese paper. As a result, many ukiyo-e works share the same motif but vary in textures and colors.

This UNIQLO collection celebrates the vivid depictions of supernatural monsters in 19th-century Japan's popular culture. Unique imagery adorns each shirt, showcasing artists like Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, and Yoshitosi.
